Meet Ms. Stanesha Love. This is her first year at Booker T. Washington Elementary International Studies Magnet. She was nominated for her showmanship, organizational skills, and dependability.

“She is the go-to person for her peers and others in the district. Ms. Love is a natural leader who is innovative and always looking for ways to keep children engaged and healthy,” said Bridney Skipper Johnson, principal.

Over the weekend, Ms. Love, who teaches Physical Education, took 27 proud students to Jackson for a race competition, Get Ready to Run, hosted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.

Booker T. was the only school in the Delta to participate.

Keep up the great work, Ms. Love!

Meet Melvin, a proud 7th grader at W.A. Higgins Middle School.

He was recommended by his ELA teacher, Ms. Thomas.

“Melvin is very respectful, considerate, and always takes the initiative to help fellow classmates. He is a natural leader,” said Thomas.

Melvin says he wants to attend Mississippi Valley State University and become an engineer.

“I enjoy solving problems and enjoy doing bellringers in the morning. They challenge me and they are a good way to get my day started. I love Higgins, our teachers, and how everyone cares for each other,” he said.

Congratulations, Melvin! Keep up the great work.
