Dr. Toya Harrell-Matthews

Welcome to the Clarksdale Municipal School District!

As a proud graduate of this district, I'm honored to serve as superintendent. Growing up here, I sat in these same classrooms and walked these hallways. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for our community, our dedicated educators, and our students. Today, I'm committed to giving back to the district that gave so much to me.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the community that has shaped my life. I look forward to a successful school year and invite you to join me in our shared commitment to excellence.

Mission

The mission tells us why CMSD exists:
CMSD exists to address every need of every student.
This means the district is committed to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally so that no student is left behind.

Vision

The vision shows what CMSD is striving to achieve in the future:
CMSD envisions all students graduating ready for college and careers.
This means the district wants every student to leave school prepared for higher education, the workforce, or any path they choose after graduation.

District Goals

These are the specific targets CMSD is working toward to make the mission and vision a reality:

  1. College and Career Readiness

    • Every CMSD student will graduate prepared for college and careers.

  2. Academic Growth and Proficiency

    • Every student will show measurable growth and/or reach proficiency on all state assessments.

  3. School and District Performance

    • The district’s overall rating will increase to a “B” or higher, with all schools rated at least a “C” or better.

  4. Comprehensive Educational Experience

    • CMSD will give students a well-rounded education that includes academics, extracurriculars, the arts, athletics, and social development.
