Dear Oakhurst Parents and Community,
Welcome to Oakhurst Intermediate Academy for the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Barbara Cage and I’m elated to serve as your principal. We are all excited to have students in the classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm.
In addition, the staff and I are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that parents plus teachers equals student success. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibility with love. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready to learn
- Completes all homework and project assignments
- Reads and studies daily to develop a love for reading and retain information learned
- Shares school experiences with you
- Encourage he/she to do their very best each day
Oakhurst Intermediate Academy’s motto is, “Where Academic Excellence Meets Innovation!” Our curriculum integrates the Arts, STEM, Health & Wellness, & International Studies. Our teachers will utilize research-based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should leave OIA prepared and ready for middle school, high school, and beyond. Although this will be a year of uncertainty, WE are here to assist you in every way.
I would like to encourage you to stay involved and informed. You are invited be an active participant at OIA. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the PTO, or special event participation. It is also our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at school. Our school newsletter “THE BLUEPRINT” will be sent home each month, student graded papers every 2 weeks, and information will be posted to our school webpage regularly. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or me a call. I look forward to having a long and rewarding relationship with you and becoming a part of your family,
