Miss Wilma Joy Bays
Miss Bays is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, where she enjoys working and collaborating with her community to promote Career and Technical Education Programs. She is a graduate of Coahoma Community College (AA) and Delta State University (BSE in Social Science Education with a minor in English). After working in the school system as an English and Social Studies instructor for eight years, she returned to Delta State University and worked to receive her masters in Counseling Education and has been working as a School Counselor Educator for four years. Of those four years, she has worked as a Career and Technical Education Counselor for two years and believes that "Career Tech is High Tech".
She believes that communities that support their CTE Programs are supporting their future workforce; thereby, putting strength and prosperity back into their community. "Industries play a big role in any town's economics", she says. She believes that towns with industries have more to offer their citizens in the form of employment and economic benefits.
"Education is the key to any form of independence our students may have, and I believe we should offer our students every possible option whether it be career opportunities in academia or industry. All of the options can make a difference in a person's life."
